The traveling cable is a specially designed flexible cable that loops between a fixed junction point mid-hoistway and the car, accommodating the full travel range of the car without excessive bending stress. It carries power circuits for lighting, fan, and socket outlets; control and communication wiring; and signal cables for position encoders or safety circuits. The cable is manufactured with a sheath resistant to oil, heat, and mechanical wear. Minimum bending radius, loop length calculation, and support clamp spacing are critical design parameters governed by EN 81-20 and IEC 60227.
