The controller cabinet is an IP-rated steel enclosure that protects the elevator's main control board, safety relay circuits, contactors, drive units (or interface to an external VFD), terminal blocks, and communication interfaces from dust, moisture, and mechanical damage. In machine room installations it is floor-standing; in MRL designs it is slimline and wall-mounted at a landing. Cabinet layout must allow safe access for maintenance, with clear labelling of all components, fuse ratings, and wiring routes per EN 81-20 and IEC 60364 electrical installation requirements.
