The landing door sill is an extruded aluminium or steel profile grooved to receive the landing door bottom guide rollers or shoes, ensuring smooth, controlled door travel. It bridges the gap between the floor finish and the car sill, providing a safe walking surface for passengers stepping in or out. Sill groove clearances must be kept free of debris to prevent door obstruction. EN 81-20 specifies maximum permissible gaps between the sill and car floor and between door panels and the sill.
