The door operator is mounted on the car top or car door header. A small motor drives a belt or linkage that moves the door panels. Modern operators use frequency-controlled motors with programmable door profiles — a fast opening phase, deceleration near the end, and a final low-speed nudge. Force limiting circuitry prevents injury if an obstruction is detected. Door open and close times, maximum kinetic energy (1.5 J during closing per EN 81-20 §5.3), and re-opening sensitivity are all governed by the operator firmware. Integration with light curtain and load weighing signals is standard.
