Up-collective control is a dispatching strategy used primarily in residential and small commercial elevators where traffic is predominantly one-directional. During an upward journey, the car serves all registered car calls and up hall calls in floor sequence, stopping only in the direction of travel. Down hall calls may be served on the return journey or held until the next cycle. Compared to selective collective control, up-collective is simpler and less computationally demanding. It is well-suited to buildings with a dominant up-peak traffic pattern and a small number of cars. Modern microprocessor controllers implement up-collective as one of several selectable operating modes, alongside down-collective and full-collective.
