Modern elevator microprocessor controllers replace older relay-logic panels with programmable boards running embedded firmware. They manage floor selection, door timing, levelling, group dispatching, fault detection, and serial communication with peripheral devices such as hall stations, car operating panels, and remote monitoring systems. Microprocessor controllers offer extensive diagnostic logging, parameter adjustment without hardware changes, remote programming capability, and integration with building management systems. Safety-critical functions are implemented on separate certified safety boards meeting SIL or PL requirements.
