An elevator hairline stainless cabin uses cold-rolled stainless steel sheet (grade 304 or 316) with a hairline (No. 4) surface finish — a unidirectional fine-line abrasive pattern — applied to wall, ceiling, return panel, and door panel surfaces. Hairline finish provides a sophisticated, scratch-disguising aesthetic popular in commercial, hotel, and healthcare installations. Panel thickness is typically 1.2–1.5 mm, bonded to a honeycomb or foam-core composite backing for rigidity and sound damping. Corners are formed with precision bends or finished with stainless corner profiles. Scratches can be repaired by re-brushing in the grain direction using appropriate abrasive tools. Grade 316 is specified in coastal or chemical environments for enhanced corrosion resistance. Magnetic stainless (430 grade) offers alternative economics where magnetism is not an issue.
