Elevator granite flooring uses cut and polished natural granite slabs — typically 10–20 mm thick — bonded to the cabin floor structure. Granite is chosen for its durability, prestigious aesthetics, and resistance to heavy foot traffic and luggage impact. Weight is a key consideration: granite adds 25–50 kg/m² to cabin mass, which must be accounted for in counterbalancing and payload calculations. The cabin structural floor must be rated to support the combined live load and granite weight. Slip-resistance (R value per DIN 51130) must meet safety requirements; honed or textured finishes offer higher grip than polished surfaces. Edge treatment (bevelled, rounded) prevents chipping. Maintenance involves periodic cleaning with pH-neutral products and sealing against moisture ingress.
