Fire-rated lift landing doors are tested per EN 81-58 or equivalent to achieve ratings of E30, E60, or E120 — indicating minutes of integrity under fire conditions. The door assembly must maintain structural integrity, limit heat transmission, and prevent smoke passage. Fire-rated doors are typically required in residential buildings where the lift shaft forms part of a protected stairway enclosure, or in buildings where a fire-fighting lift is installed. Special intumescent seals expand under heat to close gaps around the door frame. Regular inspection verifies seal condition, closing force, and latch engagement as required by EN 13015.
