EN 13015:2001+A1:2008 (currently under revision as the prEN 13015 second edition) establishes what a manufacturer or installer must provide as maintenance instructions for a lift over its service life. The standard requires that maintenance instructions cover: maintenance operations list (scheduled tasks with intervals); minimum qualification of maintenance staff; tools and measuring instruments required; maintenance log (record keeping); spare parts recommendations; and safety precautions for each task. The standard distinguishes between preventive maintenance (fixed interval), condition-based maintenance, and corrective maintenance. It is the basis for EN 81-28's monitoring requirements and aligns with LOLER's thorough examination schedule in the UK. Building owners and FM companies use EN 13015 documentation to audit maintenance contracts and demonstrate regulatory compliance.
