Express zone control designates specific cars or time periods where elevators bypass a defined range of low floors and travel express to upper floors, improving service to high floors during peak demand. Express operation is activated by the group controller based on traffic analysis—when lobby demand to upper floors exceeds a threshold, cars are switched to express mode, skipping intermediate floors.
