The emergency lighting battery (sealed lead-acid or Li-ion) automatically powers car lighting when mains fails. EN 81-20 requires minimum 1 hour at not less than 5 lux. Battery and charger are typically in the control panel. Battery health must be tested during periodic maintenance by simulating mains failure. Replace when capacity falls below 80% of rated.
