The acceptance test (commissioning test or first periodic inspection) is performed by a notified body or competent inspection authority before the elevator is handed over to the building owner. It verifies compliance with the applicable edition of EN 81-20 or equivalent national standard through a structured test programme covering: rated load test, overspeed governor trip test, safety gear test, buffer test, traction check, levelling accuracy, door force and kinetic energy measurement, safety circuit verification, and emergency lighting. All test results are documented and a Declaration of Conformity is issued upon successful completion. Failed tests require corrective action and re-test.
