Traction sheave replacement is performed when groove wear exceeds allowable limits. The procedure involves de-roping, removing the sheave assembly, pressing off the worn sheave, fitting the new sheave, checking alignment and run-out (<0.1 mm TIR), and re-roping. Groove profile must match the replacement sheave. Traction tests and load tests are performed before return to service.
