Time-of-day (TOD) control uses an integrated real-time clock in the elevator controller to switch between pre-programmed operating profiles at scheduled times. Typical applications include: entering energy-saving or park mode at night when traffic is absent, switching to morning up-peak mode at rush hour, activating access-restricted floors outside business hours, and enabling Sabbath mode at religious observance times. TOD profiles are programmed by the building manager or elevator engineer via the controller interface or building automation system. The real-time clock must be synchronised periodically (e.g., via NTP or BMS) to prevent drift. Daylight saving time transitions must also be accommodated to avoid incorrect mode switching.
