A thin-film transistor LCD or equivalent digital panel installed in the car or landing to show floor indicators, travel direction arrows, and multimedia content.
Full Definition
TFT (thin-film transistor) displays have replaced segmented LED and fluorescent indicators as the standard car operating panel and hall indicator technology on modern elevators. A 4.3-inch to 10.1-inch TFT panel typically shows floor number, travel direction arrow, load indicator, and door status; larger 15-inch to 21-inch panels display advertising, building information, or emergency notifications. Brightness must be sufficient for ambient light up to 500 lux; anti-glare coating is recommended for glazed lobbies. The controller interfaces via RS-485, CAN bus, or TCP/IP; content management is handled by an embedded media player or a building management system. For EN 81-20 compliance, the emergency call acknowledgement and overload warning must always be visible regardless of media content being displayed. Power consumption is typically 5–20 W per panel, significantly lower than equivalent fluorescent displays.
