Sling bolts are the high-strength structural bolts that connect the elevator car platform to the car sling (frame) assembly. They must transmit the combined weight of the car platform, interior fit-out, rated load, and safety gear forces. Sling bolts are typically grade 8.8 or 10.9 M16–M24 bolts with locking provisions (spring washers, nylon-insert nuts, or tab washers). They are inspected at each major overhaul for evidence of loosening, fatigue cracking, or corrosion. Re-torquing to specified values is performed at defined maintenance intervals.
