Single car control (also called simplex or single elevator control) manages the operation of one elevator independently without coordination with other cars. It responds to car calls and hall calls using a simple collective or selective-collective algorithm. Hall calls are served in the direction of travel and car calls are registered for floors to be visited. Single car control is standard for residential and small commercial applications where only one elevator is installed. Modern single-car controllers include remote monitoring, fault logging, and energy-saving standby modes.
