A motor control centre (MCC) is an assembly of enclosed sections containing motor starters, variable frequency drives, circuit breakers, contactors, thermal overloads, and control wiring for the elevator traction machine, hydraulic pump motor, and auxiliary equipment such as machine room ventilation fans. The MCC is located in the machine room or nearby electrical room and provides a single point of control and isolation for all motorised equipment. Properly labelled and documented, it simplifies maintenance, fault-finding, and safe isolation under LOTO (lockout-tagout) procedures. Cable management, IP rating for the enclosure, and compliance with IEC 61439 switchgear standards are key design requirements.
