The machine room beam is a structural steel I-beam or H-beam installed to support the hoist machine, deflector sheave, and rope attachment points. It must carry full static rope pull plus dynamic loads during emergency stops (factor 2–3x static). Vibration isolation pads between machine and beam reduce structure-borne noise.
