The elevator LOP (Landing Operating Panel) is the call button station installed at each floor landing. It typically contains up and/or down call buttons (single button at terminal floors), a hall lantern or direction indicator, floor position display, and in destination dispatch systems, a numeric keypad or touchscreen. EN 81-70 specifies button height (800–1200 mm from floor), button size (minimum 20 mm diameter), tactile markings, and Braille labelling for accessibility. Modern LOPs include LED backlighting, stainless steel or brushed aluminium fascia, and surface-mount or flush-mount configurations. Wiring is typically via a serial CAN or RS-485 bus reducing cabling compared to parallel wiring. LOPs must be rated for IP 31 minimum to resist dust and accidental moisture.
