The elevator LCD display uses liquid crystal display technology — typically TFT active-matrix — to present floor position, direction of travel, load indicator, service messages, and multimedia content to passengers. LCD panels range from simple 2×16 character modules to full-colour graphic displays (3.5–10 inches diagonal) capable of showing images, animations, and advertising content. They offer higher contrast, wider viewing angle, and richer graphics compared to LED seven-segment or dot matrix alternatives. Elevator-specific LCDs must operate reliably across a temperature range of -10°C to +60°C and withstand vibration and shock. Brightness should be adjustable (300–600 cd/m² typical) for varied ambient lighting. Communication is via RS-485 serial bus from the controller. OLED panels are increasingly used in premium installations for higher contrast and thinner form factor.
