ISO 4190-2 (Lift installation — Part 2: Class II lifts) defines the standard dimensions, rated loads, and speeds for electric traction lifts with smaller platform sizes than the general-purpose lifts covered by ISO 4190-1. Class II lifts are designed primarily for goods transport with or without an attendant, for low-rise buildings, or for scenarios where space constraints preclude a full-size ISO 4190-1 car. The standard specifies minimum car platform dimensions, rated load ranges, door opening dimensions, and speed classes. ISO 4190-2 dimensions are used by architects and engineers to allocate hoistway space and by manufacturers to design conforming products. Harmonised with EN 81-20 requirements for safety.
