Hall Call Panels (HCPs), also called landing call stations or landing operating panels (LOPs), are installed at each landing served by the elevator. Types: (1) Single-button (top and bottom landings) — only an 'up' button at the lowest landing and only a 'down' button at the highest landing; (2) Two-button (intermediate landings) — both 'up' and 'down' calls; (3) Destination-entry panels — in destination dispatch systems, a numerical keypad or touch-screen replaces directional buttons; passengers enter their destination floor before entering the car. Requirements under EN 81-20: (a) button illumination must confirm call registration; (b) audible and visual signal when car arrives at the landing (chime + direction arrow or lantern); (c) EN 81-70 requires that the highest HCP button is ≤900 mm from the floor for wheelchair users; Braille and raised number markings are required; (d) contrast and illumination requirements for low-vision users. In fire recall mode (EN 81-72), all HCP calls are cancelled and the lift returns to the fire recall floor; HCPs are locked out. Vandal-resistant designs use flush stainless-steel or brass fascia. Serial wiring protocols (CAN, RS-485, proprietary) reduce cabling compared to traditional multi-wire landing panels.
