Hall call buttons (landing call buttons) are flush-mounted or surface-mounted push-button assemblies at each elevator landing. A standard installation has one button per direction of travel (up and down) at intermediate floors, and a single button at the top and bottom terminal floors. The button activation sends a call to the elevator group controller, which assigns an available car according to the group control algorithm. The button illuminates to confirm registration and extinguishes when a car door opens. EN 81-70 accessibility requirements for hall call buttons: Braille or raised directional indicators, button height 900–1 200 mm from floor, audible tone and visual signal on car arrival. Modern hall call buttons integrate RFID, NFC, or keypad elements for access control floor lockout. In destination dispatch systems, hall call buttons are replaced by lobby kiosks or keypad panels.
