Duplex control is a two-elevator group management system in which a common controller coordinates both cars to minimise passenger waiting time and prevent both cars parking at the same floor or running to the same call. Typical duplex logic parks one car at the lobby when idle and the second car at an intermediate floor, spreads cars when demand is detected, and uses a priority algorithm to assign hall calls to the nearer or more available car. Duplex systems are common in medium-rise office and residential buildings. Traffic analysis, handling capacity, and response time are monitored to optimise dispatch logic.
