The door motor is a compact DC or AC motor integral to the door operator assembly, responsible for moving the elevator car doors and—via the door coupler—the landing doors. Modern door motors are typically brushless DC (BLDC) motors controlled by the door operator's own microprocessor, enabling programmable acceleration and deceleration profiles, precise positioning, and obstacle detection through current sensing.
