Fault Code Display: Diagnosing Elevator Controller Errors & Faults

Glossary Fault Code Display

A diagnostic panel or interface on the elevator controller that shows alphanumeric codes identifying detected faults and error conditions.

Full Definition
The fault code display is an integral part of modern elevator controllers, providing maintenance technicians with immediate diagnostic information. Each fault code corresponds to a defined condition such as door contact failure, encoder error, overload, safety circuit open, or drive fault. Codes are displayed on a controller LCD panel, handheld terminal, or via a remote monitoring interface. Fault log history allows technicians to review the sequence of events leading to a shutdown. EN 13015 and modern maintenance standards require that fault records be kept and accessible. Advanced systems link fault codes to corrective action guides in the service manual.
