Door gibs (also called sill shoes, door shoes, or sill guides) are consumable wear parts made from nylon, UHMW polyethylene, or PTFE pressed into the bottom edge of door panels and riding in the sill groove. They prevent the door bottom from swinging inward or outward. Worn gibs cause misalignment, increase sill gap beyond EN 81-20's 6 mm limit, and create noise. Replacement is one of the most frequent routine maintenance tasks.
