The compensation chain guide is a mechanical device installed in the elevator pit to prevent the compensation chain from swinging, tangling, or making contact with other pit equipment. In high-rise elevators, long compensation chains can develop significant lateral oscillations due to building sway or acceleration forces. The guide maintains the chain in a defined path and reduces noise and wear. Proper installation height and clearance are specified in the installation drawings.
