Cabin spot lighting (downlights) are specified in luxury, hotel, and premium commercial elevator cabins to create a high-quality visual environment with controlled beam angles (typically 15°–45°) and high CRI (≥90) for accurate colour rendering. Fixtures are GU10 or MR16 LED module types (5–12 W per unit, 400–1000 lm), recessed into the ceiling panel with trim rings that match cabin finish materials. Multiple spots arranged in a symmetric pattern must collectively achieve the ≥50 lux floor-level requirement of EN 81-20. Dimming is achieved via trailing-edge or leading-edge phase-cut dimmers or DALI bus systems integrated into the cabin controller. Anti-glare baffles or frosted lenses prevent direct visual discomfort for standing passengers. For false-ceiling installations, minimum recess depth is 60–100 mm depending on fixture body size; this constrains the false-ceiling void depth design.
