Elevator cabin CCTV systems typically use IP dome cameras (2–8 MP, H.264/H.265 compression) mounted in the ceiling corner, providing wide-angle coverage of the full cabin interior. The camera connects to the building NVR (network video recorder) via the travelling cable LAN pair or via Wi-Fi. Power over Ethernet (PoE, IEEE 802.3af/at) eliminates the need for a separate power feed. In EU jurisdictions, cabin CCTV must comply with GDPR: data retention is limited (typically 72 hours–30 days), cameras must be visibly disclosed to passengers, and access must be restricted.
